NGRUnreleased Mass Effect Project Trailer Surfaces Following BioWare Closure
Footage from an unreleased Mass Effect title has leaked online after Electronic Arts shut down BioWare and stopped early development.
Electronic Arts is shutting down long-running role-playing studio BioWare, ending early development on the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise. The closure of the developer was confirmed earlier this week, marking a sudden end to ongoing production at the studio.
Following the closure announcement, footage showing the in-development Mass Effect project has surfaced on the internet. Industry reporter Jason Schreier stated that the leaked material is authentic and represents work BioWare continued up to the company's shutdown.
The cancellation halts future plans for the franchise at BioWare, leaving the leaked trailer as a rare glimpse into the project's early direction before Electronic Arts pulled the plug on the studio.
