A massive fan effort dubbed Save Mass Effect has gathered over 200,000 signatures on an online petition following Electronic Arts' decision to shut down BioWare and cancel the development of Mass Effect 5. The campaign emerged rapidly over the weekend as players banded together to urge EA to reconsider halting the acclaimed sci-fi role-playing series.

The movement gained considerable momentum with vocal backing from the voice cast of the original trilogy. Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, who voiced the female and male versions of Commander Shepard, publicly endorsed the petition. Hale shared her hope for a scenario where community crowdfunding, outside investors, and a development team could assemble to bring the franchise back to life, while Meer encouraged supporters to actively sign the campaign.

Support has also arrived from adjacent gaming communities and industry studios. Destiny fans rallied behind the petition alongside developer Owlcat Games, which endorsed the preservation effort through its official social media channels. While reviving a canceled project of this scale remains an uphill battle, the campaign demonstrates widespread audience interest in the future of the franchise.
