S-Game's wuxia action title Phantom Blade Zero has enjoyed a massive launch on PC, ascending to the top of Steam's best-selling revenue list and pulling in a peak concurrent player tally of 448,000. Valve's platform saw the martial arts game outpace long-standing hits including Dota 2 and PUBG in concurrent user numbers, trailing only Counter-Strike 2. The title simultaneously launched on PlayStation 5 and Tencent's WeGame platform, meaning its complete player base spans far beyond Steam's tracked statistics.
Prior to its formal release, industry estimates indicated the game had already surpassed one million units sold across its available storefronts. Regional interest proved particularly strong in Asian territories, with roughly two-thirds of those pre-launch purchases originating from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Marking the debut, S-Game founder and creative director Soulframe Liang issued an open message reflecting on the project's roots as an RPG Maker indie called Rainblood: Town of Death. Liang detailed how public enthusiasm following an early PlayStation reveal prompted the team to scrap secondary projects, scan real-world villages across China, record extensive motion capture, and study alongside martial arts masters to finish the ambitious action release.
