A recent technical evaluation by Digital Foundry has revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 suffers from notable input lag in competitive multiplayer. While the game manages to hit its 60 frames per second target across most scenarios, response latency is substantially higher than rival hardware, measuring 81ms docked and roughly 100ms in handheld mode compared to 49.1ms recorded on PlayStation 5.
Multiplayer latency in handheld play fluctuates between 83ms and 125ms, which analysts noted as a distinct disadvantage during competitive matches. While Variable Refresh Rate features assist with smoothing performance drops on compatible screens, certain actions like peering through riot shield visors can still introduce framerate dips on the portable platform.
The adaptation was developed by Digital Legends alongside Infinity Ward following Microsoft's ten-year deal to publish the franchise on Nintendo systems. Outside the online arena, the single-player campaign operates at a 30fps lock at 4K when docked, presenting noticeable graphical reductions in textures and character models relative to the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X builds.
