Blizzard Overhauls Racial Abilities for World of Warcraft: Forever Ahead of Launch
Blizzard has updated racial passives and perks for multiple races in World of Warcraft: Forever following beta testing feedback.

With the upcoming launch of World of Warcraft: Forever, developer Blizzard has rolled out a sweeping balance pass targeting racial traits. Community manager Kaivax outlined the modifications in an official forum update, explaining that the studio sought to emphasize distinct racial themes following tester critiques regarding generic bonuses and outsized combat advantages. Despite this focus on specialization, weapon-specific proficiencies previously seen on humans and orcs remain excluded to keep future dungeon and raid item choices flexible.
The balance adjustments reshape combat perks for traditional races. Humans had their Ruthless critical strike benefit lowered to 1%, counterbalanced by their Spirit trait increasing to 10%. Orcs lost their flat critical strike passive, regaining the Command ability which grants a 5% damage boost to Hunter and Warlock companions. Dwarves trade their former critical strike damage buff for Artisan's Precision, offering a 1% hit chance on spells and attacks. Meanwhile, Tauren gained a higher maximum sprint with Plainsrunning reaching up to 60% movement speed, offset by the removal of mounted speed bonuses and the loss of offensive combat perks from Endurance.
Forever's newest addition, the Skyborne elves, also received notable revisions. Their Wind-Blessed passive haste bonus decreased from 3% to 2%, while baseline regeneration from Read Leyline was halved to 50%. However, interacting with leylines and elemental convergence locations now yields hour-long Attuned and Charged enhancements that strengthen these tools and endure across player deaths. These racial balance tweaks land alongside earlier confirmations of a dedicated PvP realm and refinements to the layering mechanic ahead of the game's release.
