One More Level's dark action title Valor Mortis has officially arrived across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Game Pass. The game also provides Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing players to transition between console and PC ecosystems while exploring its alternate nineteenth-century European setting ravished by the Crimson Plague.
Taking control of William, an undead soldier aligned with Napoleon's army, players confront plague-infested monstrosities using a soulslike combat system. The core loop revolves around parrying attacks and depleting enemy posture meters to trigger finishers. Firearms complement melee encounters by striking designated weak points to regenerate nephtoglobin and restore scarce ammunition, while blocking and immediately countering acts as an active healing mechanic.
The title also incorporates metroidvania exploration alongside deep character customization through equipable Ambers slotted at lanterns. These modifiers significantly reshape combat mechanics, such as allowing bullet parries to generate pistol ammunition or trading traditional flask healing for health restored on melee strikes. As players unlock traversal abilities, earlier interconnected levels open up to reveal hidden lore entries and optional mini-bosses.
