PC tactical shooter Squad is testing console waters with a free alpha preview on PlayStation 5 ahead of an upcoming full console launch.

Long-running tactical first-person shooter Squad has expanded its reach to console players through a time-limited free alpha preview available on PlayStation 5. The game originally debuted on PC in 2015, where it developed a strong following for its emphasis on teamwork and communication.
The PlayStation Store currently lists the early alpha build with a 4.3 out of 5 user rating, while the original PC edition maintains over 80% positive reviews on Steam. The public trial allows console users to experience the large-scale military simulation mechanics directly on current-generation hardware.
A complete console launch is currently in development for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, the development team has not yet announced a definitive release date for the final editions across either platform.
