Military tactical shooter Squad is officially expanding beyond PC to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, developer Offworld Industries has confirmed. The team aims to bring the title's massive 50v50 combined-arms combat to console audiences, marking the first time the tactical PC shooter will be playable on modern home systems.
PlayStation 5 users will receive early hands-on time through a playable alpha scheduled to run from October 16 through October 25. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X/S players must await the full launch, as no separate pre-release testing period has been detailed for Microsoft's platforms at this time. An official release date for the console versions has not yet been announced.
To accommodate gamepads and console ecosystems, the ports will incorporate curated map selections alongside a command radial wheel for pings and orders. Offworld Industries has also confirmed optional console-to-console crossplay, aiming to tailor the traditionally keyboard-heavy tactical experience for couch play while preserving its large-scale warfare format.
