Rockstar Staff Set Union Recognition Vote Around Grand Theft Auto 6 Launch

Rockstar Games staff will vote on union recognition this November, coinciding with the console debut of Grand Theft Auto 6.

Employees at Rockstar Games are scheduled to vote on official union recognition across a two-week window in November. The voting period is set to take place from November 12 to November 26, directly surrounding the console launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19. If workers vote in favor, the IWGB Rockstar Game Workers Union would become the United Kingdom's largest video game labor union.

Union organizers note that an approved agreement would grant employees formal collective bargaining power covering compensation, bonuses, overtime, redundancies, flexible work arrangements, and policies regarding generative AI. The terms have been discussed between labor representatives and studio leadership since July, following protracted tensions that included the dismissal of 31 staff members in late 2025 over disputed leak allegations currently facing an employment tribunal.

Rockstar leadership has signaled it does not intend to block the outcome. Head of publishing Jennifer Kolbe previously indicated that management would respect the staff's decision, stating that the company will support unionization if that is what the workforce chooses.

Announced release date: 19 Nov 2026
