The upcoming live-action Cyberpunk movie will diverge from the specific plot of the video game, according to CD Projekt Red management. Rather than presenting a direct adaptation of the RPG, the studio intends to use the established setting to explore an original tale.
In comments shared with Polish outlet PAP Biznes, co-CEO Michał Nowakowski clarified that the team has no interest in creating a direct recreation of the existing title's storyline. While the film remains firmly anchored in the Cyberpunk universe, viewers should expect fresh narrative threads instead of a point-by-point retelling of the game's campaign.
The live-action production is moving forward in collaboration with Paramount alongside Skydance, with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura attached to the effort. This standalone approach mirrors previous multimedia expansions for the franchise, which similarly built new character journeys within the gritty setting.
