Jagex has cancelled RuneScape Reignited, a planned mode that featured a separate character type and fresh economy, following player backlash.

Jagex has officially pulled the plug on RuneScape Reignited shortly after its initial reveal. The proposed concept was designed to introduce a brand-new character type paired with a separate economy, aiming to revitalize the long-running MMORPG by attracting new adventurers.
The announcement met immediate resistance from long-term community members, who voiced strong disapproval of the planned overhaul and its segmented economic structure.
Following the sustained backlash from veteran players, the studio chose to cancel the project altogether. Meanwhile, Jagex continues development on its previously announced fourth iteration of the franchise, currently referred to as RuneScape 4.
