Grand Theft Auto 6 Features Functional Trains and Bus Networks

Grand Theft Auto 6 developer reveals details on Leonida's public transit system, allowing players to ride buses and trains to travel and evade police.

Rockstar Games is incorporating a detailed public transit network into Grand Theft Auto 6, according to details shared by development head Phil Hooker in an interview with Edge magazine. The upcoming title's fictional state of Leonida will feature operational train networks alongside scheduled bus routes that players can use to navigate the open world.

Hooker highlighted that the development team has focused heavily on transit reliability, noting that bus schedules and routes have undergone thorough testing to guarantee vehicles show up reliably. The developer explained that he frequently relies on the transit system during regular play sessions to travel across the map.

Beyond serving as passive travel, the public transportation network offers functional gameplay utility during criminal activities. Players can board buses or trains to escape law enforcement pursuit, as transit vehicles will allow characters to leave wanted areas undetected as long as police do not witness them boarding.
