Square Enix is adapting the story of its defunct mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius into a dedicated console and PC role-playing game called Final Fantasy Resonance. Grounded in the narrative of the original mobile title's first season, the release overhauls the game with an HD-2D aesthetic complete with refined sprites and pixel-art cutscenes. The game is slated to release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms.
The project transitions the experience into a traditional turn-based battle format with a visible turn order reminiscent of classic entries in the franchise. Gameplay revolves around summoning projections known as Visions, allowing party members like Rain and Lasswell to inherit passive bonuses, transferable abilities, and super attacks inspired by heroes from past Final Fantasy games. Progression mechanics take cues from classic job and esper systems, enabling deep party customization.
The standalone adaptation is structured as a roughly 40-hour adventure featuring voiced interactions, accessible fast travel, and a reduced encounter rate to minimize traditional grinding. While dungeons and overworld environments remain somewhat simple, the release packages the mobile storyline into an offline, full-fledged RPG.
Announced release date: 22 Oct 2026
