Details have emerged regarding the combat mechanics in Final Fantasy Resonance, the upcoming HD-2D turn-based RPG adapted from Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The system centers around Visions, which function as equippable assist companions unlocked through crystal shrines scattered across the world of Lapis. Players must answer trivia questions and view scenes related to legacy figures to obtain them.
A total of 26 different Visions can be discovered, featuring characters from across the main franchise—including the original Warrior of Light, Terra, Sephiroth, Zidane, Lightning, and Noctis—alongside Brave Exvius originals like Tronn and Leah. Equipping a companion alters a party member's base statistics such as speed and health while granting unique passive perks, job capabilities, and active spells in battle.
Companions progress as battles are won, earning mastery points that unlock advanced skills and boosting character affinity. When players stagger every enemy in an encounter, they can trigger a cinematic Resonance finisher tied to their equipped partner. The RPG is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5 on October 22.
