Bungie has shared an updated roadmap for restoring retired Destiny 2 material, estimating that the entire unvaulting initiative will not wrap up until early 2028. The studio recently reaffirmed plans to restore archived content, but the technical effort required means players face an extended wait before that material resurfaces.
According to a recent community update, the development team remains in the pre-production phase of the restoration effort. Bungie anticipates lingering in this planning stage through the opening months of next year, after which active development and porting work will kick off in earnest.
Once full production begins, the team expects to spend roughly a year on the development cycle. Due to the massive scale of the legacy content being updated, the finished additions are projected to land within the first few months of 2028.
