Konami has revealed Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a brand-new 2D entry in the long-running franchise. Developed in partnership with Evil Empire and Dead Cells creator Motion Twin, the title is scheduled to launch on October 15 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, supporting Xbox Play Anywhere for shared access across both platforms.
Set in 1499 Paris, the narrative follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, as she takes up the Vampire Killer whip to combat a demonic threat engulfing the city. The game utilizes cel-shaded visuals over 3D models alongside enhanced mobility options, allowing Rose to use her whip both as a dynamic grappling hook and an aggressive combat tool. Combat mechanics also introduce parrying alongside seven distinct weapon classes, including gauntlets, spears, greatswords, and twin blades.
Progression heavily integrates a tarot Arcana system where defeated bosses—ranging from series regulars like Death and Medusa to new encounters such as Joan of Arc—are captured into cards to grant active spells. Players upgrade these powers by fulfilling specific tasks termed Works of Mercy. The release is priced at $29.99, with pre-orders granting an Alucard Style Costume.
Announced release date: 15 Oct 2026
