The upcoming live-action cinematic adaptation of FromSoftware's hit role-playing title Elden Ring reportedly features a massive budget approaching $200 million. Helmed by filmmaker Alex Garland and backed by A24, the production marks a major departure from the studio's traditional reliance on modestly budgeted projects. Previous estimates had suggested the fantasy feature would cost roughly over $100 million, indicating that costs may have escalated significantly during production.
At that reported scale, the Elden Ring project represents the most expensive endeavor in A24's history by a wide margin, costing nearly triple its previous record-holder Marty Supreme. The expenditure aligns the gaming adaptation closer to major studio blockbusters such as standard Marvel films and recent franchise entries. Principal photography for the project reportedly concluded in July.
Announced originally in May 2025, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Kit Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Nick Offerman, and Havana Rose Liu, among others. While official promotional footage remains unavailable, the adaptation based on the world created by FromSoftware and author George R.R. Martin is currently slated to debut on March 3, 2028.
Announced release date: 3 Mar 2028
