New information has surfaced regarding writer-director Alex Garland's upcoming cinematic adaptation of FromSoftware's Elden Ring. The script reportedly spans at least 180 pages including visual concepts, pointing to a potential theatrical runtime approaching three hours. Plot details remain strictly guarded, though the narrative is described as a faithful take centering on a protagonist played by Kit Connor as he battles formidable beasts and dragons.
A24 has fully financed the production, which carries an estimated price tag between $175 million and $200 million, marking the studio's costliest endeavor to date. To mitigate financial exposure, A24 has reportedly struck a deal with Amazon MGM Studios for international pay-one streaming rights, an agreement valued in the tens of millions of dollars that may also involve interactive activations on Twitch.
Following the conclusion of principal photography in July, the feature is preparing for buyer presentations at the American Film Market, where attendees may catch early footage. The star-studded ensemble cast also features Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Jonathan Pryce, and Nick Offerman, with theatrical distribution planned for March 3, 2028.
