The developers behind Where Winds Meet have revealed Hutuo, an upcoming narrative arc and region scheduled to launch on November 13. Releasing alongside the title's first global anniversary celebration, the update shifts the open-world martial arts setting to a war-torn frontier focusing on the concept of chivalry, moral conflict, and civilian survival amid northern invasions.

The expansion introduces a mud-and-steel aesthetic designed for environmental storytelling, highlighting quests told from varied viewpoints, such as conflicted soldiers and refugees. In addition to story content, the first anniversary celebration includes commemorative player rewards and new minigames, featuring Horse Racing Chess and Jianghu Tactics. A new martial arts style, Dual Spears, choreographed by action director Yuen Woo-ping, is also set to arrive in late November.

PlayStation 5 players will receive specific platform improvements with the update. On PS5 Pro, the title uses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) alongside upgraded ray-traced reflections to hit 60 frames per second across wetland environments. The game also incorporates DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, alongside optimized asynchronous streaming to reduce loading durations during transitions and fast travel.
