The developers behind the social virtual platform VRChat have confirmed they will not be implementing tags or filters for artificial intelligence creations. The choice comes shortly after an internal poll showed that approximately 95 percent of participating users desired some type of identification system to mark AI-assisted or generated content across the platform.

According to an official blog post, the studio chose against adding the requested labels due to concerns about enforcement and community toxicity. The development team explained that dishonest creators might conceal automated assets, while public tagging systems could encourage witch hunts and harassment aimed at innocent creators. The studio also highlighted that survey responses lacked a unified direction, producing thousands of distinct tagging ideas without a single approach securing more than 10 percent backing.

The decision has triggered heavy backlash across the VRChat player base, with many questioning the value of the platform's feedback process when such a clear majority demanded filtering options. For now, the developers state they intend to study the issue more thoroughly before making changes, leaving players without built-in tools to filter out non-human creations.
