Virtual reality developer Schell Games has carried out another wave of job cuts, representing its second staff reduction during 2026. The company, widely recognized for creating virtual reality experiences such as the I Expect You To Die franchise and Among Us 3D, confirmed the decision after affected personnel began sharing news of the downsizing online.
In a formal statement shared on social media, the studio attributed the cuts to ongoing financial pressures across the gaming sector. Management stated that trimming a substantial portion of staff was deemed necessary to stabilize operations and secure a viable long-term future, expressing regret over parting with talented team members. The studio had previously conducted its first round of workforce reductions earlier in the year in August.
Despite the organizational restructuring, Schell Games continues work on its upcoming cozy puzzle title, Dragon Grove. Revealed during Meta Connect, the game is targeting a release window in spring 2027 for Quest 3 and Meta VR Glasses, following earlier portfolio projects including Silent Slayer: Vault of the Vampire.
