Valve Discontinues Index VR and Discounts Remaining Inventory
Valve officially confirms the end of production for the Index VR headset, offering remaining standalone units and spare accessories at a discount.
Valve has officially announced that production for the Valve Index virtual reality headset has come to an end. Following the launch of the newer Steam Frame hardware, the company is now clearing out the rest of its existing Index inventory at lower prices until remaining stock sells out.
The standalone Index headset, which originally debuted in 2019 priced at $499, has been reduced to $399.20. Valve is also discounting select individual replacement parts, including left controllers for $119.20 and replacement tethers for $103.20, while supplies remain.
Prospective buyers should note that full starter bundles are no longer being sold, and right controller replacements as well as base stations are not currently offered in the sale. Players looking to assemble a complete setup will need to source missing tracking stations and right-hand controllers through third-party channels.
