Cooperative horror title The Outlast Trials recently recorded a surge in engagement, reaching a concurrent peak of 147,955 players on Steam. Developer Red Barrels attributed the influx to a steep 90 percent promotional discount launched at the start of October, drawing massive interest to the multiplayer title several years after its debut.
Studio co-founder Philippe Morin noted that while player numbers softened following the conclusion of the promotion, the team anticipates activity will settle higher than previous baselines. The horror series consistently experiences its strongest financial and active periods during October, November, and the surrounding holiday season.
Alongside the surge in participation, the game introduced a communal event revolving around the Sinyala Facility. Players collaborated to assist an in-game character named Amelia, fulfilling requirements to unlock a rare opportunity to escape the facility. Morin confirmed that this temporary escape path opened following the completion of communal tasks but emphasized it will remain available for a limited time.
