Designer Bryan Bornmueller is set to complete his cooperative tabletop series based on J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary fantasy saga. The card game run will wrap up its overarching adaptation with the launch of The Return of the King Trick-Taking Game, planned for February 2027.
The project began in 2024 with an initial adaptation focused on The Fellowship of the Ring. That title tasked players with collaborating under limited-information conditions to achieve specific scenario goals inspired by central narrative beats from the first book.
The series continued this past January with the release of a follow-up centered on The Two Towers. The upcoming final installment will formally complete the tabletop trilogy by adapting the climactic events of the third volume.
