Capcom executive producer Jun Takeuchi shared insight into the future of the iconic survival horror brand during an interview with Yahoo Japan. Takeuchi revealed that the studio established a comprehensive ten-year roadmap while formulating the remake of Resident Evil 2. Following the debut of Resident Evil Requiem, the initial phase of that roadmap has wrapped up, setting the stage for the narrative's resolution over the following decade.
Rather than being fully mapped out from its inception, the franchise's story grew dynamically alongside each entry. Takeuchi noted that careful planning guided the sequence of modern remakes to weave into the larger arc. While the overarching story is heading toward a defined finale, players will not have to wait idly, as multiple new entries are planned across the interim period before the narrative reaches its finish line.
The franchise continues to serve as a massive financial pillar for Capcom, with several installments dominating recent sales charts. Upcoming developments mentioned include a Code Veronica remake set for release early next year, alongside potential story add-on content tied to Requiem.
