Modders Are Restoring Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer in Legendary Edition

The ME3Tweaks group is preparing an overhaul mod to bring Mass Effect 3's omitted multiplayer mode to Mass Effect Legendary Edition on N7 Day.

The ME3Tweaks modding team has revealed plans to introduce Mass Effect 3's cooperative multiplayer to Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The original mode was omitted when BioWare released the remastered collection, prompting community developers to dedicate three years to restoring and enhancing the online component.

The upcoming project is designed as a substantial upgrade over the original multiplayer rather than a simple conversion. Enhancements include remastered lighting, updated textures, refreshed shaders, an overhauled user interface, controller support, HDR compatibility, and reworked networking. Players will also gain access to dedicated servers, private hosting, and new match formats such as Unified, which introduces enemy encounters mixed from various factions.

The team behind the project previously ported the omitted Pinnacle Station expansion into the remaster. The group aims to publish the multiplayer modification on N7 Day, alongside an independent release of a re-scored trailer by series composer Sam Hulick.
