Classic dungeon-crawling board game HeroQuest is heading to PC with an official adaptation titled HeroQuest: Digital Edition. Developer Nomad Games, known for previous digital tabletop conversions including Talisman and Fury of Dracula, is handling the project based on Avalon Hill's rerelease of the tabletop classic.
The digital version features both solo and online multiplayer modes. Single-player adventurers can face an AI-controlled Evil Wizard, while multiplayer lobbies will support up to four cooperative hero characters alongside an optional fifth player stepping into the role of the antagonist, Zargon. The core gameplay loop will retain signature tabletop elements, from hunting treasure and disarming traps to casting spells and fighting goblins.
A major highlight of the adaptation is an integrated quest editor that allows players to design original scenarios and maps. Community creations can be shared and downloaded via mod.io integration. HeroQuest: Digital Edition is slated to launch on Steam in 2027, with the developer preparing to host a closed beta test in the near future.
