Developer Chasing Carrots has launched The Lost Archives, the second premium add-on for horde survival roguelite Halls of Torment, on Xbox. Alongside the paid content, the studio released a substantial free patch for all players that introduces customizable run pacing and new gameplay options.
The Lost Archives introduces a new stage called the Library of Forbidden Texts alongside two playable characters: the Inquisitor and the Blood Apostle. The Inquisitor operates as a defense-oriented fighter relying on Retribution, Block, and new Judgement and Execution mechanics to clear swarms. In contrast, the Blood Apostle leverages health-sacrificing techniques, trading maximum life for heightened offensive power and utilizing uncapped Affliction and Fragile effects. The expansion also adds dozens of fresh quests, equipment items, traits, and artifacts.
Beyond the DLC, the complimentary base game patch adds a Shrine of Torment to every stage. Rather than waiting for set timer thresholds or pre-assigned kill quotas, players can now customize their target kill goals directly at the shrine to trigger boss encounters more quickly. The update also rolls out a rotating Weekly Challenge spanning the five base halls for bonus Torment Shards, alongside a stat-tracking Scriptor feature to record overall career milestones.
