Former Xbox COO Helen Chiang Addresses Rumors Following Abrupt Microsoft Departure

Former Xbox COO Helen Chiang has publicly refuted allegations and rumors regarding policy violations following her sudden exit from Microsoft.

Former Xbox Chief Operating Officer Helen Chiang has publicly responded to circulating reports regarding her sudden departure from Microsoft. Chiang, who served at the tech giant for over two decades and previously led the Minecraft brand, had been appointed as Xbox's inaugural COO during a major summer corporate restructuring before abruptly leaving the position just three months later.

Following third-party reports claiming she was dismissed for policy breaches, Chiang posted an extensive statement challenging the narrative. She firmly rejected allegations of leaking confidential business data to reporters, moving to a rival firm, or committing any workplace misconduct, discrimination, or financial impropriety. In her statement, she expressed substantial reservations about how internal standards were enforced regarding her situation.

Chiang's departure was initially revealed via an internal company memo from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma in late October, thanking the executive for her extensive tenure while promising future leadership updates. Chiang concluded her remarks by defending her professional track record and noting that the public speculation does not represent the full story of her exit.
