The upcoming third chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake project, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, will preserve a familiar survival mechanic from the original PlayStation release. Game director Naoki Hamaguchi announced on social media that players will have to track stamina while scaling the snowy cliffside en route to the North Crater past the Great Glacier.
In the original adventure, navigating the freezing ascent required players to monitor temperature and energy reserves to prevent Cloud from collapsing and losing progress. Hamaguchi affirmed that this physical endurance challenge is being actively adapted into the gameplay systems for the modern reimagining, ensuring the harsh alpine environment remains hazardous.
This revelation follows an earlier preview from September 2026 confirming the return of the Gigas monster in the same northern territory. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is slated to launch on April 8, 2027, across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Announced release date: 8 Apr 2027
