The creator of Stardew Valley, Eric Barone, has shared more insight into what players can expect from his upcoming title, Haunted Chocolatier. After more than four years of development, Barone reiterated the gameplay direction during a recent interview, explaining how the title differentiates itself from his previous work.
While Haunted Chocolatier will retain the community-oriented structure of a town-based game, Barone characterizes the experience as leaning much closer to an action RPG. He pointed out that the title caters specifically to fans who favored exploring the mines and fighting enemies in Stardew Valley.
Combat and progression will take center stage, with core mechanics revolving around adventuring, collecting gear, and growing stronger over time. In addition to general equipment hunting, players can expect to encounter varied monsters and take on dedicated boss battles throughout the game.
