Independent studio Digital Sun has decided against running an open playtest for its upcoming title ReVamp. The developer cited severe concerns regarding automated cloning tools that allow bad actors to replicate and publish unauthorized variations of unreleased games. With the project still a substantial distance from launch, the team concluded that distributing early builds broadly posed too great a danger to their intellectual property.

ReVamp is currently slated as a roguelike and tower defense blend targeting a March 2027 arrival. Marketing lead Israel Mallen noted that offering code to large crowds creates an unacceptable exposure level under modern circumstances. The team emphasized that widespread industry discussions might eventually compel major distribution storefronts to introduce stronger protections against rapid copycats.

This decision mirrors recent defensive measures taken by other creators in the indie ecosystem. The team behind Drunken Goddess Reflux also withdrew its scheduled demonstration from Steam Next Fest out of caution against generative replication. Digital Sun's stance highlights a growing trend where developers are forced to scale back traditional community testing periods to safeguard unreleased mechanics and assets.
