Diablo 4 Overhauling Endgame War Plans in Season 16
Blizzard is revamping Diablo 4's endgame War Plans for Season 16 with customizable tactics trees, new reroll currency, and seasonal boons.
Blizzard has announced significant enhancements coming to Diablo 4's endgame War Plans feature for Season 16. Originally introduced in the Lord of Hatred expansion, the system allows players to curate lists of endgame objectives. Season 16 expands on this framework by introducing War Plans Tactics, a meta-progression tree designed to give players deeper customization over which challenges spawn and which rewards are granted. A new currency dubbed Marks of Wisdom will also replace prior limitations, allowing adventurers to reroll their assigned activities more frequently up to a capacity of 20.
Through the new tactics tree, players can assign up to three points to specific activities and loot categories. Allocating points toward Nightmare dungeons or Helltides increases the odds of triggering Escalation Nightmare dungeons and Greater Helltides. On the itemization side, point investments can boost the drop rates for particular equipment types, crafting elements, gold, Horadric Cube materials, and Talisman items. Alongside these permanent mechanics, the update adds a seasonal tree called Tyrael's Boons featuring four distinct progression routes focusing on vendors, item caches, currency multipliers, and crafting perks like upgrading Tempered Affixes into Greater Affixes.
The upcoming season also debuts Horadric legendaries, an equipment category engineered to trigger bonuses alongside specific Talisman charms and sets. Players can evaluate the suite of balance updates and features during a public test realm session running from October 27 through November 3 ahead of Season 16's formal release on December 1. Blizzard also noted future plans for the action-RPG, including the arrival of the Amazon class scheduled for early next year.
