Deadlock Reaches New Concurrent Player Record, Eclipsing Team Fortress 2 Peak
Valve's upcoming hero shooter MOBA Deadlock set a new concurrent player record of over 262,000 users following the release of its latest playable character.
Valve's hybrid hero shooter and MOBA, Deadlock, reached a new concurrent player milestone while still running in an invite-only testing phase. Tracking figures show that the title achieved a peak of 262,145 simultaneous users on Steam, establishing a major high point for the early access test.
This surge officially pushes Deadlock past the all-time concurrent player peak achieved by Team Fortress 2, which previously reached a Steam record of 253,997 simultaneous users. While historical comparisons between the titles are influenced by platform growth and botting considerations over time, the test's recent numbers show strong community momentum.
The population jump coincided with the introduction of the game's newest hero, Solomon, a chess-themed mage. The character wields a chessboard weapon that community members note simulates famous historical board states whenever players reload based on remaining ammunition.
