Valve's upcoming hero shooter Deadlock has set a major milestone by exceeding 300,000 simultaneous players on Steam, recording a peak of 303,347 users according to tracking metrics. The surge places the unreleased title among the top four most-played games on the platform, even surpassing the all-time concurrent marks of Team Fortress 2.

The achievement comes despite the project remaining strictly invite-only. Prospective participants cannot search for the game directly on the Steam store and must rely on an invitation from an existing tester on their friends list to gain access.

The player peak coincided with the arrival of Violet, a character armed with a magical brush capable of painting platforms across the map to navigate or ambush opponents. The debut is part of the larger 'City Never Sleeps' update, which introduces map overhauls and systems revisions alongside six new characters. The final hero from this rollout, Nurse Harrow, is scheduled to launch on Tuesday evening.
