A new update for Counter-Strike 2 brings targeted quality-of-life adjustments to Retakes mode alongside extensive technical improvements for script creators. The changes aim to streamline match pacing by cutting down unnecessary waiting periods between rounds and during defusal attempts.
In Retakes mode, defusing the bomb will now complete instantly if enough round time remains and no opposing utility is actively threatening the defuse attempt. The patch also shortens both freeze time and the delay before a round restarts, ensuring players spend less time waiting and more time in active firefights. In addition, interacting with pet chickens received a fun adjustment: pinging them during the pre-round freeze now prompts them to perform a trick, while their custom names will disappear if players choose to hide customized item text in their settings.
Beyond player-facing gameplay tweaks, the patch introduces substantial scripting and technical enhancements. Developers and custom content creators gain access to a new top-level export called Entities, complete with tools like Spawn, FireInput, and search functions. Multiple player controller methods for bot management have been introduced, while various legacy instance functions have been relocated, renamed, or deprecated to refine entity handling.
