Ubisoft has released a surprise free patch for Assassin's Creed Valhalla titled The Most Requested Update, available for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The centerpiece of the release is the long-awaited New Game+ mode, accessible once players finish the Holy Day Quest. Each cycle of the mode scales combat difficulty upward to present a tougher challenge for fully equipped endgame characters.
Alongside replayable campaign runs, the patch raises the maximum gear enhancement level from 13 to 27. Players can collect a new resource called Mithril to enhance divine gear, acquired by obtaining duplicate items or books of knowledge during New Game+, as well as purchasing it through Niflheim, Mastery, and River Raid merchants. In New Game+, standard wealth chests exchange their usual metals for Platinum, while a dedicated Stash in Ravensthorpe lets vikings store spare runes and equipment.
Character progression has also expanded through an optional Extended Progression Mode, allowing runes, gear tiers, and masteries to feed directly into total power levels. Crafting receives a major overhaul at the Rune Forge, where players can spend silver to upgrade runes into a newly introduced Superior tier. The update integrates more than 300 engravable rune perks, covering item abilities previously tied to expansions and the in-game store.
